Ancilla is Going Green
Creating an Environmentally Friendly Campus
At Ancilla, we feel a deep need to be good stewards of the Earth. That means doing what we can to reduce our contributions to air pollution and other harmful practices. The Poor Handmaids at The Center at Donaldson created a three-phase plan to make Ancilla College a more efficient, sustainable campus.
Ancilla’s Three-Phase Plan of Eco-Friendly Initiatives
During phase one, we created a plan to become a more environmentally friendly and sustainable campus. In Phase 2, we aimed to use more sustainable power sources for campus energy and transportation.
This goal led to three objectives.

1. Powering Campus with Sustainable Solar Energy
75% of electricity fueling Ancilla’s Residence Halls and college classrooms will be sourced from more than 1,500 solar panels on campus. This cuts the amount of electricity that we use in half — reducing our use from the equivalent of 120 houses daily to 60 houses daily!

2. Providing New, Eco-Friendly Transportation
Ancilla employees do a lot of traveling to regional and state-wide events. That’s why need sought out more sustainable transportation. We have two electric vehicles that faculty and staff can use for business trips. We’re also currently working on getting the Honda Clarity (pictured above) with a new car wrap.

3. Charging Electric Cars on Campus
Along with our electric cars, we’ve added two charging stations to campus that other electric car owners can use. Read the full story of a few travelers who found our stations useful.
Here at Ancilla College, we want to be good stewards of the world around us. Because of this, we have made strides to make our campus as environmentally friendly as possible. Day by day, we strive to be better users of planet earth.
